In a program organized by the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA), Nepal Leadership Academy (NLA) led a two-day Executive Leadership Workshop for 25 Joint Secretaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on April 11–12, 2025. The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Pukar Malla, Executive Leadership Coach at NLA, along with the NLA coaching team.

Drawing from Dr. Malla’s 18-month research on leading innovation at the Harvard Center for Public Leadership, the workshop was rooted in adaptive leadership principles and participatory methodologies. The objective was to strengthen the leadership capacity of senior MoFA officials to effectively lead innovation and institutional change in the foreign service.

The program commenced with an inaugural session hosted by IFA, featuring welcome remarks by Executive Director Amb. Prakash Kumar Suvedi and opening remarks by Foreign Secretary Amb. Amrit Bahadur Rai. Hon’ble Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba delivered a keynote address emphasizing integrity, inclusion, and adaptability in diplomacy.

NLA conducted the core leadership sessions using the 5P framework- Person, Path, People, Purpose, and Public Governance. The objective of the session was to facilitate deep reflection, group dialogue, and contextualized case-based learning. Participants worked in small groups supported by Coaching Advisors from NLA.

The course ended with a panel discussion that synthesized key insights and explored pathways to embed adaptive leadership within Nepal’s foreign service.
